Here’s a video of a San Francisco Chronicle editorial board luncheon at the St. Francis Hotel on January 17, 2008. The following is breakdown of video segments (which will prevent you from having to watch the full mind-numbing 52 minutes to get the same info) that demonstrate the fallacy and misguided direction of his economic policies:
5:50: Raise payroll taxes to shore up social security. Result: no one will need social security because no employer will be able to afford to hire them.
23:30: Wealth redistribution. Result: steal from the productive rich and give to the non-productive, even sedentary poor, eliminating positive incentive for either group to succeed.
25:00: Cap & trade. Result: more emphasis on elimination of greenhouse gases contributing to the fictious global warming debacle than solving our dependence on foreign oil.
27:00: Build a coal powered plant at your own peril because my cap & trade policy will bankrupt you. Result: Capitalists and entrepreneurs be damned.
28:00: Opposition to pursuing nuclear power. Result: Well, there goes coal AND nuclear as options toward establishing our energy independence - what a party pooper.
37:30: Again, touting how greenhouse emissions significantly impact climate change. Result: demonstrating his simplistic nievete and/or denial of scientific fact.
40:25: Cap and trade, again. “Under my plan, electricity rates will skyrocket” (yes, he really said this). Result: Industries will be forced to make extreme capital investments to economically satisfy his cap and trade requirements, the expense of which they will pass to the consumer.
I don’t know about you, but all of this sound like pretty sound economics to me… particularly, if you ultimately seek to be President of the Earth.
